Standardization and scale up of TiO2 NPs at industrial level

To achieve the main goal of SETNANOMETRO of obtaining calibration standards and certified reference materials, it will be necessary to achieve the scale-up of the process. The main results of the previous WPs will be followed to obtain prompt results.

 

The objectives of WP8 are:

  • Scale-up the proposed methodologies (sol-gel, hydrothermal and laser ablation) to obtain kilograms at industrial level. The exhaustive control of the processes will warrantee a suitable quality of the titanium oxide nanoparticles. The scale-up will be done following the design rules of WP1.

  • Define rules and procedures to build experimental methods to inline monitoring of photocatalytic activity. The rules will be based in the knowledge gained in WP5. Two potential applications will be studied: volatile organic compound abatement and improvement photodegradability in polymers loaded.

  • Design a prototype of DSCC as a standard, in terms of current, voltage and efficiency, based on the selection of the best performed DSCC of WP6.

 

The expected results are:

  • Methodologies for the preparation of nanoparticles of titanium oxide through the three potential technologies (sol-gel, hydrothermal and laser ablation).

  • Prototype of traceable measurement set-up for photocatalytic activity at industrial inline scale.
  • Rules to establish standardized measurement procedures of photocatalytic performances.
  • Design rules for TiO2NPs photocatalytic activity for selected applications.
  • DSCC prototype with traceable and reproducible performances.
